I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have my own personal trainer. It gets rid of all the stress of having to wonder what you’re going to work on that day. These are the benefit of having a trainer. You leave it all up to them to decide, which is half the battle. I had the opportunity of having this experience for free! I won a raffle and the prize was five free training sessions at a sports gym local to me. I’m not gonna lie, after winning I was excited but immediately had doubts after thinking about it. Am I going to be able to do it? Is he going to be hard on me? Am I going to end up in the hospital? Lol. All these emotions and thoughts running through my head. The first part was just to meet the trainer and talk a little bit before starting an actual session. So I figured I would at least do that.
You’ll always want to meet your trainer first and work on setting your goals before you actually start sessions. You want to be comfortable with the person you’re going to be working with. So my first meeting was talking about what my goals were, my health and what I wanted to accomplish in these five sessions. My goals were to work on things that I don’t really do on my own. One of them were to be able to squat free weight. I’ve never done it, only squats on the smith machine and we all know that that is very different. So I wanted that to be my main focus. We designed a fitness program just for me to fit my needs. It’s so helpful because you have someone there to correct your form (to avoid injury) and give you pointers on what to do better. Also they’re there to remind you to breathe and push through. You get undivided attention and it adds consistency to your schedule and workouts, which is important to getting it done.
We can’t forget about the fun. Yes, working out can be enjoyable and when you accomplish something you never thought you could do, it’s exhilarating! I surprised myself! Your girl squatted 135 pounds for six reps!! That may not be a big deal, but to me it was!
I would absolutely recommend getting a trainer if you’re able. There are huge benefits to having a trainer. If I could continue it I would, but unfortunately I was unable to. I have my Tone & Sculpt app which is great, but it’s nice to have someone in person to work through movements with you. If you put in the work and follow a diet plan, whether it’s to gain or lose, there’s no way you won’t succeed. Take advantage of your trainers knowledge so if you have to work out on your own, you won’t be lost. Do your research and find the best trainer that will fit your needs. Subscribe below and let me know how it all works out! Happy training!
